QR codes without tracking

A raw ČITTAM QR record carries your destination URL directly, so opening that URL does not require a ČITTAM redirect. Hosted unlisted links use a different path and can show aggregate scan counts.

What we do not collect

Opening the destination encoded in a raw QR record does not send a scan request to ČITTAM. That describes our part of the journey: the scanning app and destination website may collect data under their own policies. For hosted links, ČITTAM provides aggregate counts without per-scan visitor records or tracking cookies.

No redirect, no shortener: the code carries your URL

A raw ČITTAM QR record encodes your destination address itself, so a phone reads the URL straight off the paper and opens it. There is no shortener in between and no ČITTAM server in the scan path, so there is nothing on our side to expire or switch off. Hosted unlisted links are the deliberate exception: they add a shorter address and a ČITTAM redirect, use credits, and are explained in the comparison below.

What we do keep, stated up front

A free account requires sign-in details. Imported files are parsed locally, but eligible extracted URLs, including query parameters, can be sent for metadata when online. Documents saved to Vault or published as shares also send document data. Hosted links resolve through ČITTAM and can show approximate lifetime or exact daily scan totals, depending on their reporting mode and plan. Product analytics are separate from scan counts; the privacy policy explains what they collect.

Raw record or unlisted link

Raw records are the “untracked” option as our terms define it: free and unlimited, with no ČITTAM redirect in the scan path. Hosted unlisted links use credits and a ČITTAM redirect, with aggregate reporting. Choose per record; one collection can contain both. Neither option controls the data practices or availability of the destination website.

Are QR codes trackable?

A QR code itself cannot track anyone: it is a printed pattern that spells out text. Tracking happens only when that text points at a service that logs each visit before sending the phone on. A raw ČITTAM QR record spells out your destination URL directly, so no per-scan visitor record is created on our side. A hosted unlisted link adds a ČITTAM redirect and aggregate scan counts — counts, not per-scan records.

Works offline after sign-in

Sign in once and the free core runs in your browser with no network connection: paste or import, review, print, and PDF or HTML export. Minting a hosted unlisted link and fetching page titles and icons do need the network — and a sheet of raw QR records needs neither.
